Project Overview
Successful application of surface miners in a cut to fill operation using scrapers was applied to large scale residential developments in Western Sydney where one 110 surface miner was contracted to excavate Bringelly shales and sandstone for a local civil contractor who was worked on similar projects over the last five years and had previously used conventional methods of ripping, secondary processing with hammers before crushing and screening.
The key advantages for the client was to remove this process and not have to double handle stockpiled material, with the surface mined material being able to be easily picked up with scrapers and placed in the cuts.
